Physical Education at Ethelbert Road

Ethelbert Road Primary School offers a broad, varied Physical Education and School Sport experience for all children. We offer opportunities in sport for pupils to be creative, competitive, co-operative and to face different challenges as individuals and within teams. We believe physical activity ensures physical, mental, emotional well-being and encourages children to take part in sports which they enjoy sustaining into lifelong participation.

Curriculum

The PE curriculum is broad and balanced, is accessible to, and aims to meet the needs and interests of all pupils. Children will have opportunities to explore the areas of net and wall, striking and fielding, invasion games, Outdoor Adventurous Activities (OAA)/Swimming, Dance and Gymnastics. We take the children to Faversham Gym Club for our gymnastics lessons. We do not have a field on our school grounds so we use the field and netball courts at our local secondary school for the majority of our PE lessons.

Opportunities for All

On an annual basis, all children participate in competitive sport through our embedded programme of intra-school sport competitions. This means that they represent their house team in different events.

We are part of the Herne Bay Sports Partnership which facilitates a large number of children to compete in inter-school competitions with notable achievements in Gymnastics, Football, Tag Rugby, Netball and Cross Country Running.

We participate in a number of sporting fixtures.  Some are competitive others just for fun.  Below are links to reports on some of the events we have taken part in recently.
