About Our School

Ethelbert Road is located within walking distance of Faversham town centre.  Our school uses a wealth of local resources to enhance children’s learning and make meaningful links with the curriculum.

Over the years our school has been on an exciting journey of change. We were an Infant School catering for children aged 4-7. In 2007 we changed status and became a Primary School adding a year group each year. We were initially going to be a half-form entry Primary School taking just 15 children each year. However, this changed in 2011 so we now admit 30 children into our reception class.

The changes have been challenging but extremely worthwhile. It is wonderful to be able to support and develop the learning of so many more children.

General Information

Our school encourages open communication between home and school. We have boards outside the classrooms which inform parents of the learning which has taken place that day. We issue regular newsletters to parents, via their children, email or through our KLZ page detailing events and particulars concerning school.
We are always grateful to those parents who come in to school and help. Don’t be shy, if you have some time to spare or a particular talent or area of expertise then we would love to hear from you.

Currently parent helpers are involved in supporting children with reading, helping in practical and creative subjects such as cookery, sewing, art, music and design technology and PE. So if you are free, even for an hour a week, come in and speak to Mrs Mayhew (our Deputy Head) who organises our parent helpers – she would love to hear from you.  Prior to commencing your work in school all helpers will be required to have successfully completed a DBS (formerly a CRB) check which helps us to safeguard our children. The DBS service enables organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors to make safer recruitment decisions (for either paid or voluntary work) by identifying candidates who may be unsuitable for certain work, especially that involve children or vulnerable adults.

Fundraising Group for Ethelbert Road Primary School

We have a very active fundraising group who organise many fun events for all of the pupils and parents in the school including discos, quizzes, fetes and a dinner and dance, as well as raising valuable funds for the school which enable us to enrich the curriculum and provide additional resources for teaching.

The Fundraising Group meet termly to discuss future events and would value any additional support which you may be able to give. Please contact the school office for further information about forthcoming events and to offer your support.
